Ready for another tech tip from Tech Brute? Well, here's Greg Doig with another one for you. Fast fixes for common senior tech pains. Welcome back, tech enthusiasts. I'm your host, Greg Doig. Let's make your phone and computer calmer and easier to use with these 5 quick wins. Passwords and logins. Pick one main email and one phone number for account recovery. Keep them up to date. Let your phone remember passwords for you. On iPhone, go to Settings, Passwords, and on Android, go to Settings, Passwords, Google Password Manager. Then turn on autofill. When locked out, look for forgot password and use text or email codes. No need to start over. And those small text and tiny controls can be a nuisance at times. So let's make everything bigger. On an iPhone, go to Settings, then Display and Brightness, then Text Size and choose a larger text. On Android phones, go to Settings, Display, Font Size and Display Size. Turn on bold text if available. And also consider a stylus for tapping small buttons if you have that option. You can use zoom. Most phones let you pinch to zoom photos, web pages, and messages. And there's always the fear of scams and security risks out there. So here's 3 rules that can help stop most scams. Number 1, pause. Unexpected urgent messages, be skeptical. Don't tap links or call phone numbers in a message. Instead, go to the official app or website you already use. Next, never read a code aloud or give remote access to a stranger. And finally, close those scary pop-ups. If in doubt, power off and ask someone you trust. Now dealing with updates and new interfaces. If something looks different, look for skip, not now, or later. You can explore changes when you have time. Also remember to use the help or the question mark menu in the app for what's new. On phones, you can try using voice by saying, Open Settings or go back or increase text size. Practice one small change at a time. No need for marathons. And if someone's helping you, ask for clear guidance, not jargon. Ask helpers to go slow and name each tap, such as open Messages, tap New, type the name, et cetera. Write steps down in your own words and keep a small cheat sheet notebook. When stuck, take a screenshot to show a helper exactly what you see. And one action for today. Are you ready? Here we go. Turn on autofill passwords and increase your text size. Those 2 changes reduce frustration immediately. So remember, you've got this. Just like the turtle in the race, slow and steady wins with tech.
