Foreign. Welcome back to another take two with Tech Brood. I'm your host, Greg. So grab your coffee, settle in, let's unpack these stories. All right, story number one is straight out of a cyberpunk thriller, and it's giving me chills. IBM just dropped their cost of a data breach report for 2025. And, folks, it's another wake up call. They studied 600 organizations worldwide that got hit with data breaches between March 2024 and February 2025. And guess what? AI is becoming a massive weak spot. 13% of these companies got slammed with AI related breaches. That's right. Hackers are targeting AI models in apps like they're the new gold rush. But here's the kicker. 97% of those breached organizations didn't even have proper access controls for their AI systems. 97%. Imagine leaving your front door wide open with a neon sign saying free loot inside. That's basically what's happening. And 63% of these companies either don't have an AI governance policy or are still scribbling one on a napkin. Shadow AI, those sneaky, unapproved AI tools employees use is also a nightmare. One in five breaches came from that, tacking on an extra $670,000 to the cleanup bill. So why should you care? Well, if you're using AI at work or if your favorite apps are AI powered, this means your data could be at risk. Companies are rushing to adopt AI like it's the latest TikTok trend, but they're forgetting to lock the vault. The key takeaway here is clear. We need ironclad AI governance policies, audits, access controls, the works. Otherwise, we're just handing hackers the keys to the kingdom. Okay, let's switch gears to a story that's got drama, passion, and a touch of Hollywood flair. Picture this. Europe's voice actors, the folks who make your favorite show sound perfect in your language, are in an all out brawl with AI. Reuters dropped this bombshell on July 30, and it's a saga. AI generated voices are taking over the dubbing industry, and actors are not having it. The AI dubbing market is projected to hit $4.3 billion this year and soar to $7.6 billion by 2033. Why? It's cheap, fast, and scarily good. But voice actors, like those in Germany's VDS association are. Sam, hold up. They're begging EU lawmakers to make AI companies get explicit consent before using actors voices. And they're not just whispering this, they're shouting. It. A TikTok campaign by German actors racked up 8.7 million views, and a petition got 75,500 signatures. That's some serious star power. But it's not just about pride. These actors are fighting for their jobs. Studios like Netflix are already experimenting with AI for visual effects and lip sync. Dubbing via play. Tried AI dubbing for a show called Murderesses, and let's just say the backlash was so loud they switched to a hybrid model. Meanwhile, 43% of viewers in places like Germany and France preferred dub content over subtitles. So this industry is huge. But here's the twist. GWI says 50% of viewers don't care if content is AI generated. Ouch. So what's the big lesson here? Voice actors are drawing a line in the sand saying AI can't just steamroll their livelihoods. This fight is about more than dubbing. It's about humans versus machines and creative industries. Will the EU step in with regulations to protect these artists? Or will AI voices keep stealing the mic? I'm rooting for a balance, but this one's going to get messy, so let's zoom out for a second. These two stories, AI Security and Voice Actors versus AI, show how fast tech is moving and how messy it's getting. On one hand, AI is unlocking insane possibilities, but it's also opening Pandora's box. Companies need to get serious about security and lawmakers need to figure out how to protect workers without stifling innovation. It's like we're all on a high speed train and nobody's sure who's driving. So what do you think? Are you worried about AI breaches or are you team AI when it comes to dubbing? Let me know in the comments. And if you like this episode, tell me what kind of stories you're interested in and I'll go dig them up on the world Wide Web there for you. Until next time, take care. Have a great weekend.
